The lighthouse, the pine forest and the mouth of the river Tagliamento.

Discovering a Site of EU Interest.

This circular route winds through the pine forest to the east of Bibione. This natural oasis was nominated as a Site of EU Interest not only for the dense vegetation and rare orchids that can be admired here, but because it is home to many species of birds that nest here before migrating. Especially suitable for expert mountain bikers, the route includes stretches along the fossil dunes along the seashore and along the banks of the Tagliamento River, the only Alpine river that still produces soft, golden sand, where you can sunbathe.
Two routes lead to the lighthouse area: one crosses the countryside and pine forest, the other runs parallel to the beach and the dunes belonging to the Consortium. If you take the cycle path from Via Procione, you can admire the sea and the horizon as far as the lighthouse on the easternmost edge of the beach bordering on the mouth of the Tagliamento.
A new boat service was set up last year to allow people to reach the nearby beach of Lignano Sabbiadoro. Simply go to the pier and wait for the boat to embark your bike.

Length: 12 km;
Difficulty: a mountain bike is recommended on dirt and sandy stretches;
Duration: about 1 hour depending on your pace.
