The Great War (Blue Route)

Itinerary

Jesolo-Cortellazzo-Jesolo

A natural ring-route, thanks to which cyclists can retrace the events linked to the front of the First World War that, after the rout of Caporetto, moved to the Lower Piave Valley. It starts in the centre of Jesolo and heads to Cortellazzo, a small, picturesque fishing port that is right on the mouth of the river. From here, continue cycling along the Piave embankment, on the cool and shady dirt track of the bike path. At Eraclea, leave the slow flow of the river and turn towards Jesolo, towards the rural hinterland between the River Sile, the Piave and Cavetta Canal, today an agricultural area, which in 1918 was the scene of battles between the Italian and Austro-Hungarian armies.
